インクジェット式錠剤印刷機のデザイン

今日の私たちの暮らしは、さまざまな医薬品の存在無くしては成り立たないでしょう。一方、高度化・複雑化す医薬品の処方が人それぞれに異なることから、調剤ミスの防止は極めて重要な課題であり、錠剤への正確な印刷は有効な対策の一つです。SCREENの新しいインクジェット式錠剤印刷機は、機構部のコンパクト化、ブロア・集塵機を内蔵させる再設計により、前号機に比べ大幅な省スペース化を可能にする革新的な機器。1時間あたり20万錠という高速印刷を実現しつつ、印刷精度の自動検査や最小50µmの割れ・欠け・黒点の自動検出・除去など、最先端の技術が詰まっています。しかし、従来の錠剤印刷機は「窓の付いた板金の箱」という印象のものばかりでした。日常的に使用するライフスタイル機器の洗練されたデザインで目の肥えたユーザーに、先端的で信頼感のある印象と卓越したユーザービリティを提供することがデザインプロジェクトのミッションでした。現場でのリサーチから、操作ディスプレイの存在が清掃やメンテナンスの支障になることが多いという課題をを抽出。そこで振り子式に回転するディスプレイユニットを考案し、機器稼働時には機器前面に配置され、ドアの開閉時にのみ上方に回避させることが可能な仕様を実現させました。結果、観音開き仕様の大型ドアデザインにより、内部へのアクセスは大幅に改善されました。

ステンレスという、当分野での作法とも言える清掃性の高い素材を踏襲しながらも、精度高く実現したコーナー部Rや巧みに取り入れられた黒のマスキングによる開放感などにより、単純な箱という印象から脱皮した外観。面発光する視認性の高いインジケーターの大胆さと、工芸クオリティのブラスト処理や各部グラフィックス等のディティールがバランス良く共存した、機能もデザインも最先端の錠剤印刷機が完成しました。機器はOMNITOと名付けました。一台に多機能を有する全能性（OMNI）。そして600dpiという高画質フルカラー印刷の綿密さと色彩が、SCREEN社が拠点を構える京都で活躍した日本画家・伊藤若冲（ITO）を思い起こさせます。

It would be difficult to imagine our lives today without the many pharmaceutical products that support modern healthcare. At the same time, as medications become more advanced and prescriptions more complex and individualized, preventing dispensing errors has become an increasingly critical issue. Accurate printing directly onto tablets is one effective way to address that challenge. SCREEN’s new inkjet tablet printing machine is an innovative piece of equipment that achieves a significantly smaller footprint than its predecessor by making the mechanical section more compact and redesigning the system to incorporate the blower and dust collector within the unit. While enabling high-speed printing of 200,000 tablets per hour, it also incorporates advanced technologies such as automatic print-accuracy inspection and the automatic detection and removal of tablets with cracks, chips, and black spots as small as 50 µm. Conventional tablet printing machines, however, have tended to look like sheet-metal boxes with windows. For o-lab, the design challenge was to move beyond that conventional image and provide users, whose expectations have been shaped by the refined design of everyday lifestyle devices, with a machine that feels advanced, reliable, and exceptionally easy to use. Through field research, o-lab identified a recurring issue: the operating display often gets in the way during cleaning and maintenance. In response, the team devised a pendulum-style rotating display unit. During operation, the display sits at the front of the machine; only when the doors are opened does it move upward and out of the way. This made it possible to design large double doors that dramatically improve access to the interior of the machine. The exterior retains stainless steel, a material almost standard in this field for its high cleanability, while using precisely formed rounded corners and carefully placed black masking to create a sense of openness. The result is an appearance that has broken free from the simple box-like impression of conventional equipment.

Bold, highly visible surface-emitting indicators coexist with refined details such as craft-level blasted finishes and carefully developed graphics throughout the machine. The result is a tablet printing machine that is state-of-the-art in both function and design. The machine was named OMNITO. OMNI suggests the all-in-one versatility of a machine with multiple functions. ITO recalls Ito Jakuchu, the Japanese painter active in Kyoto, where SCREEN is based, through the machine’s meticulous, high-resolution full-color printing at 600 dpi and its rich use of color.
